My Top 5 UK adventures of 2023 so you can explore them in 2024!

Okay, so I might be a tad bit late with this post as January is drawing to a close, but I was recently immersed in the nostalgia of 2023 as I scrolled through my camera album. The vivid memories of the incredible adventures I had last year flooded back, urging me to share my top 5 spots with you for some inspiration as you plan your adventures in 2024!

Snowdonia National Park

Topping my list is the mesmerizing Snowdonia National Park. I found myself drawn to Snowdon over 5 times in 2023, captivated by its sheer magic. From discovering a hidden infinity pool to witnessing a cloud inversion during sunrise at the summit, embarking on my first wild camping experience, and experiencing Snowdon blanketed in snow – each moment was nothing short of extraordinary. What sets Snowdonia apart is the vast array of activities it offers. You could spend weeks there and still find more to explore, catering to various skill levels and interests. It truly has something for everyone!

Dina’s Rock

Dina's Rock in South Wales became one of my favourite climbing destinations in 2023, offering a perfect blend of sport climbing, bouldering, and the unique charm of a waterfall coursing through the crag. The combination of stunning views and climbing opportunities made it an unforgettable experience. Oh, and don't forget the chance to take a refreshing dip in the waterfall – an adventure I'll have to explore on my next visit! The abundance of cool spots to pitch the tent box really added to the great vibes too!

Sgwd Einion Gam: Chasing Waterfall Wonders

Venturing further into the waterfall county, I set out to uncover the hidden gem that is Sgwd Einion Gam. The second-largest waterfall in Wales, it proved to be a breathtaking sight. While the journey involved wading through the river three times, with water levels reaching knee-deep, the reward was an awe-inspiring waterfall that left me speechless. If you're up for a wet and wild adventure, I wholeheartedly recommend the trek to Sgwd Einion Gam.

Mam Tor

Mam Tor, is a gem that caters to the level of adventure you seek. Hiking it twice in 2023 brought two distinct experiences – a bustling New Year's Day sunrise hike, filled with breathtaking views, and a later-in-the-year trek with Meg, marked by wind and rain but equally stunning visits. Both hikes started from Castleton, offering a beautiful journey. If you prefer a more accessible route, there's a convenient car park near the peak, allowing for a shorter 20-minute walk. There are so many different spots where you can start your journey so can lead to lots of different hikes.

Honister Pass

Rounding off my adventures for the year was the unexpected thrill of traversing the Via Ferrata with Honister Slate Mine in December. The post on this unique experience is a must-read! Surprising vistas, enhanced by the snowy landscape, left me in awe. I'm eager to return and conquer it in the summer for a completely different perspective, offering a truly unique way to appreciate the beauty of the lakes.

And there you have it – my top 5 adventures of 2023! What were your standout moments? Share them in the comments below; I'd love to hear your stories as I plan out my adventures for 2024!
