Samphire Hoe Circular

One of my favourite things to do is find hidden gems, which are close to home! I love finding spots, which are close, and you can visit repeatedly! This walk that I am going to share with you, down in dover, is definitely one of those spots for me which I am going to go back to again and again over the summer! It was literally only 20 minutes from me but honestly, , you would not believe from the photos that it is in the UK.

Samphire Hoe, located in the middle of the white cliffs of Dover, is a beautiful walk to do if you have a bit of time on the weekend. It is not a long walk. I did the samphire hoe circular walk within about an hour and a half but you could make it as long or as short as you want! From the car park, after about 10 minutes you have hit some stunning views so you could do a short walk or you could walk all the way down to the hoe and stay there for the afternoon. The walk is also not very strenuous so is one that you can do at any physical ability:) The site is wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Although I did not go on the walk, there is a recommended “access for all” way around the Hoe to ensure that it is accessible for everyone!

The walk starts at the “Samphire Hoe” carpark. You cannot really walk to the start point, you do have to drive but there are plenty of car parking spaces once you get there and the parking is very affordable. 30 minutes to 2 hours is £1 and if you are staying longer for over two hours, it is only £2! It’s also open for a substantial amount of time- from 7 am until dusk.

Within a couple of minutes of walking, you’re surrounded in beautiful nature! It is a stunning view of the white cliffs of Dover, whilst also seeing some lakes. There was also a lot of spring wildlife around which was very cute. If you continue down the path, you will reach the actual Hoe, which is also stunning! We went on bank holiday weekend and there was hardly anyone there. My favourite part was how clear the water was, I cannot believe that it was in the UK! You can venture down and do a bit of scrambling on the rocks or you could have a nice little sunbathe and paddle in the sun trap:)

Another cute part of samphire hoe is by the carpark there is a cute coffee shop where you can get a snack after your walk. And they do ice cream!!!!

I would 1000% Recommend checking this hidden beauty out when you get a chance! I think I’m going to drag my friends back for some paddle boarding and swimming next week :)
